WHAT IS THE CULTURE OF SPAIN AND HOW IS IT DIFFERENT FROM OUR CULTURE?

Together we are reading Shadow of a Bull by Maia Wojciechowska  We have discovered that Manolo has some serious doubts as to whether or not he wants to follow in his dad's footsteps, to become a famous matador. We cannot fully understand why Manolo is so troubled until we understand his culture. We must now explore what life is really like for Manolo living in Spain and how it is different from our lives.

Conclusion

This Webquest has been quite a journey into life in Spain.  We can now go back to our book, Shadow of a Bull, and understand the dilemma Manolo is experiencing.  Understanding another person's culture, or way of life, helps us to understand and appreciate our own.  Maybe we won't be so quick to judge what other people in our world see as tradition.  Maybe we should ask ourselves what our own traditions are and how would we explain them to someone from another country.
